Introduction This book contains first my essay on the poems of Kedarnath Agrawal, then my favorite poems selected from his poetry collections. In the essay, first I have said some things about the historical background of the progressive literary movement, after that I have discussed the poems. I have divided the poems according to the subject, their order in each department is according to the time of creation as far as possible. This will make the things said in the essay more clear and hopefully, it will help in understanding the development of Kedar as a poet and his importance. It is possible that lovers of Kedar's poetry may be sad not to find some of his favorite poems here. I did not try to make Kedar collect all the good poems here, and 'my favorite poems' does not mean at all that all that are outside them are unpleasant poems. These poems have been selected keeping in mind the things said in the essay and to a large extent are examples to confirm those things. While quoting poems in the essay, I have not mentioned my compilation, but have cited earlier published collections. I want people to read those collections not satisfied with my collection, if they have read before then read again. If for this my essay provokes them a little bit, then I will consider it my success. While compiling poems, I have often changed their names everywhere. A line or part of a poem has been made a syllable. While dividing the poems according to the subject matter, I have adopted the same policy in giving the title of each department. The aim is that as soon as we look at the list of poems, all their diversity becomes clear, some subjects have remained dear to Kedar for years, it should be understood. While quoting poems in the essay, I have put small and big punctuation marks on my behalf. The poems compiled after the essay will be published in the same way as they were published in the collections. Shivkumar Sahay wrote in the publication statement of 'Gulmenhdi' that in 1965 by publishing 'Phool Nahi Rang Bolte Hain' " Truly we have published 1. At the end of every department Some poems are not in the order of composition due to the mistake of the press, I'm sorry - Publisher
